WANT a limited edition Swedish Supercar, but not quite ready to go EV?
Then the new collaboration between Polestar and Hot Wheels could be the way to go, with the world-famous diecast model car maker set to release a 1:64 scale version of one of the Swedish manufacturer's design studies.
Penned by Indian designer Shashank Shekhar, the Polestar TRX is described as a 'bold interpretation of Polestar's normally subtle design philosophy', and marks the first time a Polestar has made it into the Hot Wheels catalogue.
Juan-Pablo Bernal, Head of Interior Design at Polestar, said the company was looking for innovative ideas, and the 1,200 entries did not disappoint.
Ted Wu, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Design of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, said it was a pleasure to work with Polestar on the project, with work now underway to bring the model to life.
“We are looking forward to seeing the ‘Polestar TRX’ in a 1:64 scale and welcoming this die-cast to be included in our Hot Wheels history," Mr Wu said.
Shashank Shekhar, the winning designer, said it was a thrill to know his work would be put into production by Hot Wheels, making it the first time one of his designs made it off the drawing boards.
"I'm thrilled to win, this will be the first design in my career to be produced, so it's a big deal for me," Mr Shekhar said.
"I never thought that someday, something I have created would end up as a Hot Wheels car.
"It has been a great journey, and I've had an amazing time so far, something like this gives you a lot of confidence as a young designer."
