VOLVO Group Australia confirmed Tony O'Connell will take over as the new Vice President for Mack Trucks Sales Australia, with his tenure to start in October.

Martin Merrick, President and CEO of Volvo Group Australia, said Mr O'Connell would bring deep industry knowledge, strategic acumen, and a passion for excellence to his new role.

"It’s fantastic to welcome Tony back to Australia," Mr Merrick said.

"I’m convinced the experience he has gained in the wider Volvo Group over the past three and a half years, will add value to VGA."

After joining Volvo Group Australia in 2004 from Western Australian dealer Truck Centre WA, Mr O'Connell worked in Darwin in a Mack Aftermarket role, before advancing to a number of senior roles within VGA, including Vice President of Aftermarket, then Vice President of Volvo Trucks Sales Australia.

More recently, he was based in southeast Asia as Managing Director at Volvo Malaysia.

“I’m looking forward to taking the reins of the Mack Trucks brand here in Australia,” Mr O’Connell said.

“For over a century, Mack has forged a well-deserved reputation for reliability, durability, and efficiency and I am excited to join and contribute to that legacy.”
