Lovers of the original hot hatches will be queueing to secure a very special version of the much-loved Abarth 695.

Dubbed the Abarth 695 75° Anniversario, the limited edition does double duty, not just marking 75 years since Carlo Abarth built his first FIAT-based special in 1949, it also celebrates the astonishing T-Jet four cylinder turbocharged motor powering the recent versions.

The 1,368 cars to be built matches the 1,368cc engine capacity, meaning there is likely to be high demand for the anniversary model.

The engine uses a Garrett GT 1446 turbocharger, delivering 180 HP of power and a torque of 250 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The maximum speed is 225 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

Just as importantly, there are exclusive 17-inch gold alloy wheels, and a high-performing braking system with 305x28mm ventilated and perforated disks clamped by the black Brembo aluminum calipers.

Completing the eye-catching look of the anniversary edition, the Abarth scorpion logo covers the entire roof, the gold emblem contrasting with the black paintwork.

Carlo Abarth launched his bespoke brand on March 31, 1949, with the first car, the model 204A based on the FIAT 1100, used by 1930s Grand Prix great Tazio Nuvolari to win his final race before retiring in 1950.

In 1963, Abarth released the first 595 model, based on the FIAT 500, and established a lineage that continues to this day.
